Jinx’d were formed in December 2000 after a chance meeting
in Carters Bar. The following rather drunken discussion ended up in the
formation of Jinx’d, although at this time the band were nameless but would
later go on to be called Area 51.
After a few months it was decided to change the name as there are
a few bands with that name. After what seemed an eternity the band decided
on “jinx’d” due to the amount of bad luck that the band had experienced
throughout their short life.
The bands first gig was on 22 june 2001 in the Market square under the
name Area 51. It wasn’t the bands first full gig as wullie was away sunning
himself in Aviemore!.
After numerous practices and trying to decide on what songs to cover
the band eventually got it together and played at the bonfire along with
Storm.
Since then numerous gigs have taken place in a variety of venues throughout
Caithness and Sutherland.
Jinx’d are currently in the process of writing their own material which they
are recording in “the hut” where many a great idea was had!
